The Terrific Twos

Carter will be 3 this month.  I started going through old pictures of him when he was two and became very nostalgic.  Everyone has heard of the "terrible twos" but I can attest that they are really not terrible at all... sure they have their challenging moments but so does every other age a child goes through. I will miss so much about my little two year old and I want to always remember things about him in his terrific twos. I complied some of our favorite moments of two in no particular order.  It was really hard to narrow it down so there are a lot, which makes sense because there were a lot of terrific two moments.

We had lots of ice cream dates.

He would still fall asleep just about anywhere if he was tired enough.

Daddy could always make him smile for a picture.

He preferred not to wear pants.

Every night after bedtime he loved to cuddle in Mama and Daddy's bed.

Outside was his absolute favorite place to be.

No pants, no problem. :)

He loved to jump on Mama and Daddy's bed.

He loved to help out in the kitchen any chance he could get.

He started using a big boy swing.

He loved to give a "big hug" and had to say "big hug" to go along with it.

Spaghetti, aka "oodles" was one of his favorite meals.

More ice cream. :)

He started saying "cheese" for the camera.

More kisses. :)

He started wearing sun glasses.

... and using an umbrella.

But he would just assume stomp in the rain puddles and get wet.

When he wasn't eating ice cream, he was asking for pop corn.

He loved to ride on Daddy's shoulders.

He finally got brave enough to run through the sprinkler.
Note to self: record this to hear that amazing laugh and squeal.

Splashing in water with his boots was one of his favorite things...

And he loved to get really, really dirty.

And probably my absolute favorite pictures of Carter as a two year old, are of him loving on his new little brother.  His heart for baby Micah brings tears of joy to my eyes.  He loves his little brother so much and is always trying to help, hug, or kiss him. I pray that they will be close and that Carter will always try to look out for his little brother, setting a godly example before him. I was nervous about how Carter would adjust to being a big brother, but it has truly been so much sweeter than I ever imagined.  As a two year old, he has said so many funny and sweet things but hearing him say "Love you Micah" is definitely my favorite.

Happy almost birthday, sweet Carter.  We loved your terrific twos and can't wait to see  where your adventurous spirit, silly ways, and gentle heart takes you.
